Sunday Six - the angsty romcom

(Sunday Six is a concept that naye suggested importing from tumblr, which I think is an awesome plan! The idea is that you take six sentences from a WIP and post them, partially to give yourself a writing push and partially also to whet the appetites of people interested in such things. My previous Sunday Sixes are on tumblr here and you might have fun going through the general Sunday Six tag as well).

It takes forever for Shen Wei to undo all the fiddly little buttons and he seems to be going slowly on purpose, and Zhao Yunlan gets irritated before he’s even halfway done. He bats Shen Wei’s hands away and finishes the job himself, briskly and impersonally, trying hard not to think about how after That Kiss he’d anticipated doing something very similar in a very different context.

They get a little tangled up as Zhao Yunlan tugs the shirt down Shen Wei’s arms without thinking to deal with the garters first, and in another context it would be funny. Instead, Zhao Yunlan has to take a step back and breathe so he won’t lose his temper again.

Shen Wei finishes getting the shirt off by himself and tucks it aside, sitting meekly with his shoulders slightly hunched. He looks like he’s trying to seem small and harmless, but maybe he’s just feeling uncomfortable without all his starched layers of clothing armor.

At first I thought this would be a sexy scene but now I'm thinking it's a 'Come here Shen Wei, you stupid sod and let me look at your injury' scene.

Same! At first I thought this was leading to some smut but then I realized it's probably a post-fight scene, where Shen Wei probably did something noble and self-sacrificing and got hurt and Zhao Yunlan's really mad at him for it (but would have done the same in his shoes).

Excellent! I'm so glad you posted it here too! And bummed I don't have a WIP for sharing - I think pretty much everything in Kaleidoscope is spoilery right now, and that and the epilogue is all I've got right now. But every Sunday I'm all "oh I should get something started so I can share it...". :D

It does make you want to write more, doesn't it?? And I totally understand the spoilery problem. Y'know, just saying, I wouldn't argue if you came up with another awesome story and decided to write it... :D

It does make me want to write more~! My word brain is still recuperating after finishing two stories in a very short time, but I am definitely eyeing the possibility of setting up a drabble thread/challenge or something like it. Or asking for prompts. Or both... This fandom is ridiculously inspiring?!

This is very encouraging to hear! Though I keep forgetting it's like. Near mid-March?? Which means I'm off on holiday for a while and shouldn't start anything... But I'll keep it in mind for when we get back, and in the meantime if anyone else wants to have a go that's definitely something I'd be most interested in!
