RATING: PG-13
SUMMARY: You can't judge a book by its cover. Well, technically you can, but you shouldn't expect it to be accurate.
CATEGORY: Angst, Humor, Hurt/Comfort
SPOILERS: 'Rumours'.
DISCLAIMER: On a scale of One to Not Mine, these characters are Not Mine. They belong to a lot of terribly important and official people who work for big companies and get salaries and basically aren’t me. Suing me for copyright infringement would be pointless and unprofitable, I swear. A moose once bit my sister.

SUMMARY: There was once, in the country of Chup, a silent city, the silentest of cities, a city so ruinously silent that it had forgotten its stories...
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Written for Taabe for the Yuletide challenge. TheWhiteRose3 wrote me the haunting Eureka story Four Days for the same challenge, which you should definitely go check out!

SUMMARY: She has always been ready.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This was written for round 4.01 of the [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer challenge, in which participants are given prompts and must complete stories within the allotted word count. The stories are then posted anonymously and voted on. The losers of each round are 'put in a drawer' from which they may not participate in subsequent rounds, and the winners get to feel very clever.

galaxysoup: (TorchwoodRetcon)
FANDOM: Stargate SG-1
RATING: PG-13
CATEGORY: Angst, slash, het, UST
SUMMARY: Four vignettes on one subject.
SPOILERS: Window of Opportunity, Fallen/Homecoming, Absolute Power, Need, Serpent's Lair, Legacy, Forever in a Day, Holiday, Stargate the movie, Crossroads, First Commandment, Between Two Fires, Divide and Conquer, Family
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Translations of Jack's Latin: Semper fi = Always faithful (Marine motto, shortened from the proper Latin 'semper fidelis'). E pluribus unum = From many, one (United States motto). Non illegitemae te carborundum = Don't let the bastards get you down. Abi in malem crucem = Go to hell. Mordete mei = Bite me. Admittedly some of the more, ah, unusual ones I spelled phonetically rather than copy them down from somewhere, but I did the best I could with my two years of Latin. If you don't like it, or if you're Professor Galler... mordete mei. ;-)

The End Of The World )
galaxysoup: (GotSubtext)
FANDOM: Stargate SG-1
RATING: PG13
SUMMARY: To save Daniel's life, Jack has to do that hardest of all things: talk.
SPOILERS: the movie, Enemy Within, Upgrades, Foothold, Broca Divide, The Curse, Window of Opportunity, Within the Serpent's Grasp
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a sort of response to a kind of challenge on the OurStargate message board (how's that for assertive?). Tiv pointed out that Jack and Sam froze together in Solitudes and Jack and Teal'c froze together in Tangent, but Jack and Daniel have never had that particular bonding experience. I don't think this was precisely what she had in mind, but what the hey. It's what got written! Many gratuitous thanks to Barb, as always, who is truly a woman of many talents. ;-)

A Rock And A Hard Place )
galaxysoup: (HeavenAndEarth)
FANDOM: Stargate SG-1
RATING: PG-13
CAEGORY: AU, drama, angst
SUMMARY: An AU look at the year 1974. What if Jack and Daniel were neighbors?
SPOILERS: None - it's an AU! Okay, okay - Gamekeeper and Crystal Skull.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story has taken longer to write than any story I've ever written - even my English assignments! Thanks to Lorien for giving me a home at the Grove, to my listsibs Tricia and Barb for the idea and the encouragement (read: harassment ;-), to Angelheart for making sure Jack had the right credentials (which I then exercised poetic license all over - it's not her fault!), and to MK and LimeKid, as always, for listening. To Wallis Budge for the translation of the Book of the Dead which Daniel recites (yeah, yeah, sacrilege, I know). Oh, and you may have noticed that I have ignored the existence of the Vietnam War. This was entirely intentional. It didn't fit with my story, therefore it did not happen. So there. (Well, it's an AU, isn't it?).

FANDOM: Stargate SG-1
RATING: PG-13
CAEGORY: Humor
SUMMARY: A day in the life.
SPOILERS: None. Vague reference to any episode Sam's love life is massacred, which sadly is way too many to name.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The book Teal'c steals from Daniel really does exist - it's by Arthur C. Lehmann and while I've never read it and have no idea if it's any good, it was one of the first things to pop up when I ran a search on Amazon so it won by default. Also, all the witchcraft stuff I just plain made up. Don't try this at home, kids! Oh, and if I got any of the language stuff wrong, I apologize. Much as I might wish I had Daniel's brain sometimes, I really don't.

The Waiting Room )
galaxysoup: (IantoCensored)
FANDOM: Stargate SG-1
RATING: PG-13
CATEGORY: Humor, Romance, slash
SUMMARY: Answer to Pink Khaki’s ‘Valentine’s Date From Hell’ Challenge. I've been told I should put a 'do not ingest liquids while reading' warning on this, and since I have no interest in having to buy anyone a new monitor, consider it placed. ;-)
SPOILERS: None.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Ah, my one and (so far) only attempt at slash, also one of my few forays into humor. It holds a sepcial place in my heart, if only for the utter glee of having my wicked way with Jack's dignity.
AUTHOR'S NOTE UPON REPOSTING: This story was excellently remixed by Penknife as part of the Remix Redux challenge. You can find her reinterpretation here.
